The group’s existing websites were hosted across as series of Wordpress installations that had become bloated and unstable, and were badly in need of a refresh. These sites were completely rebuilt, with updated content and a new design based on a modern front-end framework. Astro was selected as the best front-end option, as it allowed for the rapid development of a series of static websites, with a shared component and design system.
A new deployment system was also implemented for the group in place of its previous hosting solutions, using Github to host code repositories and Vercel to deploy. Site content is managed internally by Astro, and user updates are pushed to deployment automatically. This setup also allowed for a more robust and reliable development workflow, with the added benefit of a staging environment for testing and review.
